Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa City tour
Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport; transfer to hotel. Afternoon sightseeing at the National Museum (Lucy fossil), Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Entoto Park for panoramic views.
Overnight: Golden Tulip Hotel or similar, Addis Ababa
Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar
Morning flight to Bahir Dar; boat trip on Lake Tana visiting Ura Kidane Mihret and Betre Mariam monasteries; return via the source of the Blue Nile; afternoon tour of Bahir Dar's Fish Market and Haile Selassie Palace.
Overnight: Avanti Blue Nile Resort or similar, Bahir Dar
Day 3: Drive to Gondar
Scenic 4-hour drive to Gondar; afternoon exploring the Royal Enclosure castles and Debre Berhan Selassie Church with its ancient murals.
Overnight: Haile Resort or similar, Gondar
Day 4: Drive to Simien Mountains
After breakfast, drive to Debark for park formalities, then hike into Simien Mountains National Park spotting Gelada Baboons and klipspringers.
Overnight: Simien Lodge or similar, Simien Mountains
Day 5: Drive back to Gondar
Early departure with a picnic lunch; stop at two scenic viewpoints; visit Jinbar Waterfall in the Simien escarpment before returning to Gondar.
Overnight: Haile Resort or similar, Gondar
Day 6: Fly to Lalibela for the rock-hewn churches
Morning flight to Lalibela; visit Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskal, Bete Denaghel, Bete Golgotha, Bete Mikael, and conclude at Bete Giorgis (St. George’s Church).
Overnight: Mezena Lodge or similar, Lalibela
Day 7: Fly Back to Addis Ababa
Attend early church service in Lalibela; visit remaining rock-hewn churches; fly (ET 121, 13:20–14:35) back to Addis Ababa, enjoy a farewell dinner, then transfer to Bole Airport for departure.
